I’ve only visited a LongHorn Steakhouse once before, and that was several years ago for my wife’s birthday. Usually if I want a good steak, I just cook it at home. My wife wanted to take me out to dinner. I’m really glad I was chosen for this program because I was really impressed with my visit. Needless to say, I’ll be back a lot sooner than a couple of years!
I do the grilling at my house. It’s my favorite method of cooking by a long shot! It was nice to have somebody else grill me up some excellent food.
LongHorn’s steaks are fresh, never frozen, and hand seasoned. There are seven different cuts of steak to choose from. Cuts include the signature 18 oz. bone-‐in Outlaw Ribeye, Flo’s Filet, sirloin, strip steak, flat iron, T-bone and porterhouse.
Some dishes, like the LongHorn Steak Sauce, are even prepared table-side following the classic steakhouse tradition.
On Father’s Day weekend, LongHorn is inviting families to give dad the “ok” to put down the tongs, take a night off from the grill and be treated to a LongHorn “Steakcation.”
LongHorn believes dads should be given a break from everyday duties and treated to a delicious, relaxing steakhouse meal that, just like him, is a cut above. During his “steakcation,” dad can sit back, relax and enjoy one of LongHorn’s juicy and flavorful steaks.
Each steak comes with a choice of steakhouse sides such as the Steakhouse Mac and Cheese or signature Sweet Potato with Cinnamon Sugar Butter.
To complete his “Steakcation,” for a limited time, LongHorn is offering its signature steak knife for sale as a gift set. A great gift for a great dad. Each set of four steak knives are available for purchase at any LongHorn location for $29.99. All knives are made of high carbon steel with serrated blade edges for outstanding strength and cutting ability.

We started with the shrimp and lobster baked with sun-dried tomatoes in a creamy mozzarella, parmesan and asiago cheese sauce. It was served with warm tortilla chips for dipping. My wife thought it was just a tad bit too salty but it was just right for me.
I chose the Caesar salad over the house salad. It was a good Caesar salad, but my wife declared her Strawberry and Pecan salad to be simply amazing.
For the side dish I chose the Steakhouse Mac & Cheese, which is corkscrew pasta, four cheese, and BACON! This is the best macaroni and cheese that I have had at a restaurant, hands down. It reminds me of the macaroni and cheese that I made almost two years ago that killed the diet I had been on for a few months…and it was well worth it! If you eat here, this is the one thing I would recommend you to try if you don’t try anything else.
For my main entree, I chose to go with the Outlaw Ribeye, an 18oz ribeye with the bone-in, cooked to medium rare perfection. The steak was juicy and extremely tender. It was one of the best steaks I’ve ever eaten, including my own! I wasn’t able to eat it all and wound up taking some of it home. Another first for me!
We had to get dessert to go because we were all about to pop after eating so much food. We ordered the Chocolate Stampede, which is six types of chocolate in peaks and layers that are served with vanilla bean ice cream. They brought it out in a regular sized to-go box with separate containers for the chocolate syrup and ice cream. It wasn’t until several hours later when my wife and I were ready to eat some dessert that we realized how massive this dessert it. The cake filled 4/5 of the to-go box! We were unable to finish the dessert in one sitting as well. If you order this, make sure you have somebody willing to help you eat it!
When I was preparing for this blog post I thought it would be an average experience and I would write about the dishes that I had. My wife and I were simply amazed at how well the experience really was. Our waitress, Amberly, was extremely good at her job. She was attentive and kept our drinks full while not bothering us every five minutes, allowing us to enjoy our food. If you’re in the Huntsville area and wanting to visit a nice place to get a great meal, I suggest LongHorn Steakhouse at 2732 Carl T Jones DR SE, Huntsville, AL 35802.
